Alison Pettifer, MBACP

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to find out a little more about me.

My name is Alison, and I am a fully qualified, experienced psychodynamic counsellor based in Kings Langley, Hertfordshire. I work with adults and young people across a wide range of difficulties — including anxiety, depression, bereavement, low self-esteem, trauma, relationship problems, stress, and feeling stuck or unable to move forward.

I became a counsellor because I truly believe in the power of connection. There is something remarkable that can happen when you feel truly heard — without judgement, without pressure — and I feel privileged every day to offer that space to my clients. My approach is warm, unhurried and will be tailored to you. No two people are the same, and I will always work at your pace and following your lead.

I trained in psychodynamic counselling — an approach that gently explores how past experiences and relationships may be shaping the way you feel and behave today — but above all, I am guided by what is most helpful for you as an individual.

I completed five years of training in Psychodynamic Counselling at the Counselling Foundation.  I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work within their ethical framework, which includes regular clinical supervision to ensure I am always offering the best possible support to my clients.

If you would like to find out more, or simply have a conversation about whether counselling might be right for you, please do get in touch.  I offer a free initial telephone call and would be very happy to hear from you.
